Public School 2013 Fall/Winter Collection

Having made its foray into the world of Fashion Week early in 2012, Public School‘s latest presentation for Fall/Winter 2013 maintains consistency with their core ethos while effectively proving their place among the runway ranks. While many stylistic tenants that Public School presented for FW13 seem to be more noticeable or relevant this season, the New York label’s leather-heavy offerings and decidedly noir aesthetics are something that have been a part of the brand for years — it seems the industry is just now catching on.
From two-tone leather-sleeved blazers, elongated black hoodies and high-cut collar outerwear, the collection pushes the envelope via traditional silhouettes with co-founders Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne’s inventive interpretations. And yet, while a solemn, monochromatic vision is projected, amidst the obscure piece reside a range of more recognizable staples such as plaid button-ups, gradient knit crewneck sweaters, slightly cropped trousers and an assortment of military-esque jackets and suiting options. The perfect balance of street garb amalgamated across high-end textiles, tailoring and quality, it seems that Public School will be taking a substantial amount of the high-and-low fashion spotlight as we move into Fall/Winter 2013.
